Take a Hot Shower

When you are feeling stuffed up, one of the best things you can do is take a hot shower. The hot steam can get into your system and help clear up some of your congestion. After you step out of the shower, you should feel a lot better.

Try to Stay Indoors in the Afternoon

If it is possible, try to stay inside during the afternoon. Pollen counts tend to be the highest at that time and you can experience unpleasant symptoms by going outside. If you have errands to do one day, try to do them as early in the morning as possible to avoid the pollen.

Take Caution When Doing Outdoor Chores

Gardening and other outdoor chores sometimes can't be avoided. However, it's important to protect yourself while doing these chores. If you put a surgical mask on your face before heading outside, you can block pollen particles from making its way into your system.

Gargle Salt Water

A dry and itchy throat is another common springtime allergy symptom. If your throat tends to get itchy during the springtime, you may want to try gargling salt water a couple times a day. It will relieve a lot of that itchiness and help you go about your day easier.

Clean Your Home More Frequently

If you suffer from springtime allergies, you may need to clean your house even more often than usual. If you ever open your windows or take your clothes off immediately after you come inside, pollen can spread throughout your home. It is important to vacuum and dust your home several times a week to control the pollen. If you have pets, make sure they stay off your furniture.

Springtime allergies can be a nuisance, but it is possible to tolerate them by making some lifestyle changes. However, if you still can't get control of your allergies, you may want to make an appointment to see a doctor. He or she may be able to prescribe medication that can relieve your symptoms.
